Wiley: Quota for Open Access articles used up for 2023

Laptop

Open Access publishing under the agreement with Wiley will be possible again for members of the University of Zurich from 2024 onwards. Publication via the green Open Access route will continue to be possible free of charge via the institutional repository ZORA.

Due to our Read & Publish agreement with the publisher Wiley, researchers at the University of Zurich can publish Open Access articles in the publisher’s hybrid journals at no cost to themselves. However, the publisher has set an upper limit of articles per year, which has now been reached. Until the end of 2023, the University Library of Zurich will therefore no longer be able to cover the costs of the article processing charges (APC).

How to publish until the end of the year

Members of the University of Zurich can continue to publish Open Access articles, but at their own expense.

Alternatively, we recommend publishing the articles in Wiley journals as “closed access” free of charge. With the green open access route (self-archiving), the accepted manuscript can be published Open Access in the UZH repository ZORA after an embargo period.

New allocation from 2024

The Open Access agreement with Wiley continues. From 1 January 2024, accepted Open Access articles, can again be published within the agreement. You will find more information to the Read & Publish agreement with Wiley on the website of the University Library Zurich
