UB Zurich has agreements and Read & Publish Agreements (R&P) with many academic publishers. Thanks to these agreements, UZH researchers can publish Open Access with these publishers free of charge or at reduced prices. The following criteria must be met to take advantage:

There are no costs for UZH researchers for publications in journals of the following publishers. APCs are covered by UB Zurich.

For SNSF-funded articles published in gold open access journals, ACS will automatically apply for article to be funded open access on behalf of the authors. |

Procedure |
By submitting the manuscript and consenting to the Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA), authors agree that their accepted article will be published as Open Access under a CC BY license if funding of the article costs (APC) is possible via the Open Access Agreement with the University Library/Central Library of Zurich. Once the article has been accepted, the author will receive an e-mail notification that the article funding has been approved by the affiliated institution and will be published automatically open access. If the author does not wish to publish the article open access the publisher “De Gruyter” has to be informed accordingly: oafunding@degruyter.com

During the submission process, the question whether the publication should be published Open Access should be answered with "yes". The system identifies the corresponding authors by providing the e-mail address of the University of Zurich or the university hospitals. After acceptance, the corresponding authors are requested to place an OA order in the publisher's payment portal, where the funding of the APC by the University of Zurich can be requested. |

Follow the steps through process (PDF, 1 MB) of open access publishing. Important noteOUP are in the process of moving to a new licensing and online payment portal (SciPris). During this transition phase, some authors will be guided through a different workflow. Using the workflow on the OUP page in the section “I’m the eligible author, what do I need to do”. In the case authors receive invoices: Please do not pay any invoices for the open access article processing charges (APC). OUP are not able to refund already paid invoices. |
