New features for study space reservations system

See Updated News to the new version "Booked" (23 April 2025)

To improve IT security, we are currently updating our Booked-UB reservation portal. Two versions of the portal will be active for one week from 15.4.-22.4.

As a UZH member you can book here:

Reservations until April 21

Reservations from April 22

From April 22, only the new booked version with a slightly updated design will be active. The reason for the update is the introduction of multi-factor authentication (MFA) at UZH to improve IT security.

Note: We have already received a lot of feedback from students about the new version and its functionality. We have now set the system so that bookings can be made 7 days in advance.

What is new?

Secure login with MFA

  • By default, MFA is carried out via a numerical code sent by e-mail.

  • Alternatively, an authenticator app can be activated in the personal settings.

  • Important: When you log in for the first time, actively click on “Email me a One Time Passcode” to receive a numerical code.

New booking rule: 7x24 hours in advance

  • Previously, study spaces could be reserved from early in the morning for the entire day a week in advance.

  • Now a rolling 7-day period has been introduced: For example, if it is Monday at 8:00 am, a seat can be reserved until the following Monday at 8:00 am.

Updated terms of use

Please read the new terms of use carefully.

Modernized layout

The user interface has been optimized.

Results of the survey about study spaces

Independently of this system update, a survey on study spaces was conducted in December. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the almost 1000 participants!

The most important findings are

  • The mix of reservable and free study spaces is appreciated and covers different needs.

  • The main point of criticism is the problem of no-shows - reserved but unused study spaces.

Removal of reservable workstations at some UB locations

As a first step to counteract this problem, all reservable individual study spaces at the unstaffed locations UB Economics, UB English Literature and Linguistics, UB History and UB Art History will be converted into freely available study spaces. Further improvements are being examined internally.
