Citizen Science Project "MAGIE"

© MAGIE Projekt

MAGIE, which stands for "magic",  is a participatory citizen science project that investigates how modernised fairy tales affect children's development. The MAGIE project brings together interested citizens, education professionals, cultural professionals and scientists to collaboratively develop fairy tales and empirically research their effects.

Many classic fairy tales contain role models and messages that have developed historically and should be critically reflected upon today in terms of their impact on language, social-emotional skills and parent-child relationships. As part of the project, the fairy tales are adapted collaboratively, created in workshops and published as open materials. Among other things, the project examines differences between classic traditional versions and collaboratively developed variants, for example in how they are accepted by families and whether they can support child development processes.
