American Chemical Society: 2025 Open Access Article Quota Reached
The annual quota for Open Access articles in journals published by the American Chemical Society (ACS) has been reached for 2025. Until the end of the year, accepted articles can no longer be published Open Access under the current agreement at no cost.
For articles submitted to hybrid ACS journals, we recommend that authors publish articles as “closed access” and deposit the accepted manuscript version inZORA. After a 12-month embargo period, the accepted manuscript can be made freely accessible to the public.
Ongoing negotiations for 2026
Negotiations with ACS for a new Open Access agreement starting in 2026 are ongoing. We will share updates as soon as new information becomes available.
