Language Repository of Switzerland awarded joint CLARIN B-Centre certification

CLARIN B-Centre certification

LaRS@SWISSUbase (Language Repository of Switzerland) and LiRI (Linguistic Research Infrastructure) have been officially awarded the joint CLARIN B-Centre certification.Together, they form a distributed centre: LiRI serves as the technical hub providing specialized expertise, while LaRS@SWISSUbase manages the dedicated repository required by CLARIN. This internationally recognized status confirms that LaRS@SWISSUbase – the Swiss repository for language data – meets the highest standards for data preservation, technical robustness, and FAIR-compliance.

LaRS@SWISSUbase is curated and hosted by the University Library Zurich and is the national platform for the publication of linguistic research data. To be recognized as and receive B-Centre certification, LaRS has to comply with the requirements set out by CLARIN. These include, for instance, CoreTrustSeal certification for the repository, adherence to harvestable metadata standards, quality of service, formats, protocols and APIs as well as providing persistent identifiers.

The B-Centre certification is the result of a highly successful collaboration of many parties. It ensures that researchers in Switzerland can confidently deposit linguistic data, while researchers across Europe and beyond can discover and reuse it in a sustainable and standardized environment.
