1. How can I have a change made to a ZORA publication?

  1. If you are not yet logged in to ZORA, please do so first. To log in, you need your SWITCH edu-ID. You can find more information on Login to ZORA.
  2. Then search for the desired publication in ZORA. With the link "Suggest update or correction for this item" (at the bottom right of each ZORA publication) a form opens, where you can enter your change request. The form can be opened in English or German.
  3. If you have forgotten the previous login, log in now. If after clicking on "suggest update or correction for this item" a blank page appears, close it and click again on "Suggest update or correction for this item"; this will open the change form.
  4. On the change form you will see a link to your ZORA publication (e.g. http://www.zora.uzh.ch/3051/).
  5. Click "Send" to send the change form to the ZORA editorial office.

2. A submitter enters biomedical publications with the most rudimentary bibliographic information: no PubMed, no links. What to do?

The submitter should be advised to first localize biomedical publications in PubMed and then import them into ZORA using PubMed ID. It makes the work of the submitter and the ZORA editors much easier.

3. When is the Contact E-mail Address useful?

This address enables the button "Request a copy". This allows interested readers outside the University of Zurich, who do not have access to the full text, to request a copy from the author - or from the deposited e-mail address. With two clicks you can send a copy directly from ZORA or you can decline the request.

4. What is an accepted manuscript, what is a publisher PDF?

General distinction  Accepted Manuscript/Published Version (PDF, 441 KB)

Examples in the chronological order in which many articles are written and published:

  • Accepted Manuscript: Authors have their files accepted for publication by the publisher in a PDF. No publisher layout.
  • Accepted Manuscript: Immediately after the article was accepted, the publisher combined the authors' files into a PDF, added a publisher's preview page and possibly a publisher's name on each page, and published it. No publisher layout. The publisher pre-page can be removed.
  • Publisher PDF: The publisher has created its layout and sent the proofs (also called galley proofs, uncorrected proofs, or similar) to the authors for proofreading. For ZORA, this is treated the same as the published publisher PDF.
  • Published Publisher PDF: The publisher has published the article after it has been proofread by the authors in the publisher's layout, but still without page numbers (in press).
  • Published publisher PDF: The publisher has published the article in the publisher's layout in final form with page numbers.

5. What do you do if there are two files for a publication, e.g. an accepted manuscript and a published publisher's PDF?

Enter both in ZORA! Set the visibility per PDF as allowed by the publisher's rules. If one of the documents is visible "for anyone" and the publisher requires a standard sentence, enter it in "Additional Information".

6. Accepted manuscripts sometimes contain markings and corrections. How to proceed?

In most cases, this is how they are taken in ZORA. It is the responsibility of the authors if they want to show such a manuscript. If it has too many corrections, one can include the publication in ZORA, but send a note to the authors or the submitters. Maybe you can get a better full text that way.

7. How do you deal with publications that have a lot of authors?

Publications with less than 30 authors are transferred 1:1 into ZORA. No author names will be deleted.

--> Reason: complete metadata per publication, also for further use (e.g. in the Swisscovery).

For publications with more (>30) authors, the authors are automatically truncated at number 30 during import. In the same step, an "et al" is generated in the Last name field and a ? in the first name field. If UZH authors are omitted as a result, they would have to be added again at the end.

  1.     First 30 authors and collaborations in the same order of as in the publication
  2.     "et al"
  3.     all UZH authors

8. Can I set up a personal profile in ZORA with a CV and publication list that is accessible on the web?

We find it more useful if this information is offered on your personal UZH website or institute website.

To embed the publication list in your website, you can use the ZORA Plugin in the UZH WebCMS Magnolia.

You can also store the link for your UZH homepage in your ZORA user profile. This will then be displayed in the ZORA author list.
To do this, log in to ZORA (Login). In the ZORA menu, click on your name or on "Profile" to get to the page of your ZORA account. In the "Profile" section, click the "Edit" button. Enter the URL in the "Homepage URL" field and click the "Save and continue later" button.
