Publications in ZORA

As a researcher at the University of Zurich, you are required by the UZH Open Sciences Strategy to publish a complete version of your current publications on the ZORA repository, if the legal situation allows it.

What to deposit in ZORA?

As a rule, a publication in ZORA includes the following components:

  • Full-text version (post-print or publisher's PDF)
  • Bibliographic data
  • Details for the academic report (vary according to publication type)

Publications in ZORA

  • Journal Article: Article published in a scientific journal, can be online only.
  • Book Section: A chapter or section in a book, anthology, lexicon or in another scientific work.
  • Monograph: A book, printed or in electronic form (incl. textbooks and schoolbooks).
  • Dissertation: If the dissertation is also published as journal article or monograph, a separate item need to be created in ZORA.
  • Habilitation
  • Master's Theses Conditions master's theses
  • Newspaper Articles Accepted newspaper articles by faculty
  • Edited Scientific Work: An edited book, anthology, lexicon, proceedings, scientific journal or series (Herausgeberschaft).
  • Conference or Workshop Items
  • Full articles only, i.e., no abstracts, posters, or PowerPoint presentations.
  • If a conference paper is published in a book or scientific journal, it should be submitted as a book section or journal article in ZORA.
  • Working Paper: A complete study formally published as a scientific research paper within a working paper series in the Internet. It must always be entered with full text.
  • Published Research Report: A scientific research report that was published by an organisation or a publishing house. Internal unpublished reports are excluded.
  • Scientific Publication in Electronic Form: A scientific work that was published electronically, e.g. internet, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, including audiovisual works disseminated through a publisher-like platform (tv and radio scientific reports).

The list of accepted publication types corresponds to a requirement of the university management. Since the publications in ZORA are automatically transferred to the publication section of the academic reports, the list of publication types can only be extended after consultation with the university management.
