How to Access the E-Library Off-Campus

Access from outside of the UZH IP to the UZH network and thus to the e-resources licensed by the UB and the ZB (e-journals, e-books, databases) is reserved for members of UZH and the university hospitals.

Not all authorized users work and research within the UZH network/ within the range of the UZH IP. To be able to log in from outside, either a VPN connection or a primed link is required that enables a login via EZproxy.

If you are searching in the library catalog swisscovery UB and ZB Zürich, in BrowZine, or in subject-specific databases, you will find download buttons through which you may access the full texts available in these databases. The various options are listed below.

If you are not within range of the UZH network, clicking the button below the header Full-Text availability will automatically redirect you to the EZproxy service.

Clicking on the pdf icon in the table of contents will automatically redirect you to the EZproxy service if you are in range of the UZH network.

Optionsubject-specific databases ("Information Resources" in the corresponding subject area)

If you are not within the range of the UZH network, clicking on the Find it@UZH/ZB button will automatically redirect you to the EZproxy service.

Lean Library is a browser extension by the provider SAGE publishing and can be downloaded and installed without special permissions.  When searching the Internet, Lean Library recognizes when the user reaches a website with content licensed to UZH. If he/she is outside the UZH network, Lean Library enables the connection to the product to be established so that it can be used. Lean Library can find journal articles as well as e-books. UZH members select the organization University of Zurich.

USZ members select the organization University Hospital Zurich.

Balgrist members select the organization Balgrist University Hospital.

The log in should be completed by using the credentials of the selected organization.
