Strategy of UB und ZB Zurich

The University Library and the Zentralbibliothek Zürich are jointly responsible for the library services of the University of Zurich. Our close cooperation and organizational integration is supported by a common strategic basis. 

Mission

We provide long-term, reliable, user-friendly and largely free access to information in all appropriate forms for academics and the public. The development, provision and long-term maintenance of our broad range of analog and digital media as well as our unique special collections form an essential part of our services for research, teaching, studies and the pubic.

Strategy

In December 2023, the Library Board of the University Library and the Library Commission of the Central Library approved the joint Strategy 2024-2027. It applies across all organizations and relates to our function as a university library as well as a cantonal and municipal library.

In addition to the joint mission statement (with mission, vision, values and success factors), our strategy contains five directions that will guide both organizations in the coming years.
