What Study Spaces are Available?
Study Spaces
- There are around 40 study spaces, whereof 4 with PC/screen (see devices).
- The study spaces can be used at any time without prior reservation.
- Two separate study rooms suitable for video calls are available.
- UZH members can book the separate study rooms online viabooked-UB
Long-term Study Spaces
- There are long-term study spaces available that can be used by students of the UZH English Department who are writing a Bachelor or Master Thesis or a dissertation.
- To book a long-term study space, use the Application for Long-term Study Space.
What Infrastructure Can I Use Here?
Borrow and return
- Self-checkout station
- Book returns box at the front desk, accessible during general opening hours or with UZH card from 7:00am - 11:00pm.
- Please note that items will not be cleared from the library account until the next working day (check due date).
Devices
- 4 PC work stations
Lockers
- 18 lockers (free of charge, 28 days loan, reservation possible viaswisscovery).
Locker keys can be borrowed at the location after a reservation via swisscovery and an appointment via e-mail has been made. - 15 day lockers (free of charge)
Additional Services
- Relax zone: Students may use the Kafistübli at Plattenstrasse 47 (building opposite) for discussions.

Do you want to get to know the library and its services in an uncomplicated way? We offer a short guided tour for users in which we explain everything you might need for your everyday library life: From setting up your library account to booking a study room, everything is included.
Please register using our application form. The tour can take place between 1 pm and 5 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. Please give us three preferred dates, and we will gladly get back to you with a definite date.
Information about the Location and Collection
The library's collections consists of approximately 60,000 books relevant to English Studies, as well as a large number of journals, audiobooks and films.
