New Read & Publish Agreements from 2023

Starting in 2023, UZH researchers can benefit from paying open access fees to additional publishers.

The University Library and the Zurich Central Library maintain Read & Publish agreements with numerous scientific publishers. They offer UZH researchers the opportunity to publish open access articles free of charge in the journals of these publishers. As of 2023, the following publishers will be newly added:

  • American Chemical Society
  • John Benjamin's
  • Nature Research Journals
  • Oxford University Press

The article fees will be covered by the University Library and Central Library as part of the agreements. In addition to open access publication, the contracts also secure reading rights to the publishers' existing journal offerings for the university.

Please note that for some publishers the possibility of OA publication is limited due to an annual quota and free OA publication is not possible in all journals of these publishers.

Other funding options for OA publications

Read&Publish agreements exist with numerous other publishers. In addition, researchers can receive publication funding for publications with selected OA publishers. On our website you will find all the necessary information on funding opportunities for OA publications

At BioMed Central and SpringerOpen, publication funding had to be discontinued from 2023 due to a lack of financial resources. We ask for your understanding for this step.
